BOINC Stats Counters by Neil Munday

Hello and welcome to my little BOINC Stats Counter site hosted by Vidahost.com

I created this site for the many thousands of BOINC crunchers around the world. The site basically retrieves your stats from the project's servers to create user and team graphics similar to the ones shown below:

My service caches your results so that you never see anything like "unable to connect to server" or "server error". All of the public BOINC projects are supported (see below for further details).

The site allows you to:

  • Administer ALL of your BOINC stats graphics from one site - you no longer need accounts at each mini-site,

  • Provides a user graphic to display statistics of ALL your BOINC projects,

  • Provides a team graphic to display statistics of ALL your BOINC projects,

  • Provides a user graphic for each of your BOINC projects,

  • Provides a team graphic for each of your BOINC projects,

  • Choose the background colour,

  • Choose the border colour,

  • Choose text colour,

  • Choose a background image (optional),

  • Choose to only show projects with RAC greater than zero,

  • Choose to only show your top N projects,

  • Choose to have a wide or standard image, depending on the number of projects you have,

  • Add your stats graphic to your Facebook profile at BOINC Facebook,

  • Get your BOINC stats on your Windows, MAC OS or KDE desktop via BOINC Desktop, and

  • Decide whether the background is transparent or not. As the latter is decided by an option in your URL, you can have transparency on for one site and off for others. It's up to you!

Due to the large number of image requests, the bandwidth on my web hosting account is being used up extremely fast and as a result, the site may be down once the bandwidth has gone for a given month. It has never been my intention to charge for service at all as a fellow open source software developer. Any donations that are received will be used to support the site and not for financial gain.

Thanks to pe6o4 and dainenyu from the forums for letting me know about the problems with the Hydrogen@Home stats. I have forced a stats update which has now got the stats working again.

TSP stats are not updating at the present time as their site has stopped producing XML stats files. Until they stat producing these file again I cannot update their stats.

Support will be unavailable during most of April as I am moving house and have to sort out Internet access etc. at the new place. I will endeavour to answer any queries etc. once I'm back on the Web. I will be off the web from Friday and am unlikely to be back online for a couple of weeks.

From 20/03/08 until sometime in the early hours of 21/03/08, you may have seen MySQL connection errors on MundayWeb's websites. Unfortunately I wasn't around at the time, but it appears that my web host has fixed the problem. It should be noted that MundayWeb was not to blame for the problems as the site is hosted on a shared server. Apologies for any inconvenience.

This afternoon saw some MySQL errors. These were caused by other web sites on my webhost's shared hosting server using excessive amounts of RAM. This issue has now been resolved and the site is working as normal. Apologies for any inconvenience.

The data feed that supplies your stats to the BOINC Team widget has been updated to include all the projects that your team crunches for. If this modification proves popular, it will be rolled out to the All-In-One team graphics. Please provide your feedback via this poll.

New versions of the BOINC Yahoo! Widgets have been released. The new user and team version includes a modification to the "show only projects with a RAC greater than zero" feature. You can now choose what the minimum RAC value should be for projects to be displayed.

Could you provide a mirror?

This site would not be able to operate and support the large number of users without the help of the people below. If you would like to provide a mirror you will need the following:

  • PHP 4.0 (at least)
  • GD library 2.0 (at least)
  • FTP access to allow me to upload the mirror scripts
  • Un-metered or large amount of bandwidth

Disclaimer

  • This service is entirely free. However, if you would like to donate towards the cost of running the site, please click the PayPal donation button below.
  • No personal details are stored - only a valid e-mail address and BOINC account ID are required.
  • All passwords are encrypted using DES level encryption. There is no way I can decrypt your password.
  • Your stats will be stored and only used to create your stats graphics.
  • Your e-mail address and BOINC account IDs will never be disclosed.
  • Your user stats are updated on a daily basis providing that BOINC's servers are available.
  • The site relies on BOINC's servers for its stats. If their servers are unavailable, your cached stats here will be used to create your stats graphic instead. You will therefore always be able to see your stats unlike other similar sites on the web.
  • If you supply a background image, it should be noted that the PHP imagecopyresized function is used to resize the supplied image and can increase the time taken to load your graphic.
  • If you supply a background image, it must be no bigger than 560 by 400 pixels.
  • Supplying a palletted background image will cause it to be converted to a TrueColour image and will therefore increase the time taken to load your graphic.
  • If you forget your password, please e-mail admin@boinc.mundayweb.com stating the e-mail address which you use with the site.
  • If you do not activate your account within 7 days of registering, your account will be deleted.
  • If you have any questions, please check out the Forum & FAQ first before e-mailing, as others may have already asked the same question.
